New Zealand's overarching industry strategy, endorsed by Government, is to grow the New Zealand aquaculture market from approximately $350million of turnover to a $1 billion industry in 2025. A compounded growth rate of 6.5%.
Wakatu Incorporation through its feasibility stage identified there is a need to provide substantial more infrastructure to support this potential growth, along with other initiatives such as planned legislative reforms enabling diversity of water space into multimillion-dollar finfish, shellfish and other species.
Wakatu is planning to spend $22million on stage one of a 120-hectare Commercial Aquaculture Zone.
This involves the development of a seawater pipeline and up to 14 hectares of saleable land - suitable for construction of facilities, including commercial land based ponds, nurseries and hatcheries.
This investment comprises a mixture of land development and subdivision, along with the creation of a commercial property portfolio.
Potential opportunities exist to co-invest with this land development. For more information please contact us now.
